🍵 Luk Yu Chinese Teabag, a 40-year old HK brand, was founded by Michael Wong in 1980 with a clear vision: to make Chinese tea more popular and easier to drink by bagging it up, akin to English teabags.
At first, no one patronised. Michael actively engaged free tasting sessions by promoted "buy tea bags and get free cakes." Later on, the sales got picked up along with the increase of the pace of life and the convenience (of tea bags) became a trend.
The filter paper used was imported from Europe for its quality. Moreover, tea was carefully selected from different tea gardens every season. Their tea was also blended with three kinds of tea to balance the sweet and bitterness. Today, the factory produces ~150,000 teabags a day.
A cup of warm tea? Water between 85°C and 90°C will be the perfect match. The tea bag should be taken away after brewing for 2 to 3 minutes, otherwise it may affect the tea quality.
