Meeting Mak Kam-Sang Sifu — The last hand-lettering master of HK minibuses, is one of the luckiest things in my life.
Max love his characters—they’re bold, unique, and often ahead of the trend. If it weren’t for the pandemic grounding him in HK, I probably would never have met him in person, nor spent an afternoon learning about minibus culture and interesting HK stories.
He never sells himself, but his passion for preserving minibus culture is clear for all to see. Generous with others yet frugal in life, he carries a warmth and humanity that leaves a lasting impression. Every trip back to the city, I make it a point to visit him. I’ve always felt his joy and pride for me, from having nothing to winning “Best Start-up”
This Thanksgiving, I’m grateful to record this rare partnership — my respect and thanks are endless.
